Internal structure of modern vessel based task forces:

Even though most resistance might be broken by naval cruisers out of the planetary orbit, to take, hold and secure cities, sites or even buildings, You need infantry. This task is performed by the Imperial Klingon Marine Corps (IKMC). But today's modern warfare demands a little more than just rowing ashore. The need of big scale manoeuvres, which involve a great number of ground or air vehicles, combined with massive manpower is replaced with the need of smaller, high mobile task forces, which conduct pre-emptive strikes or object/personnel security. This results from the advanced weapon technology, which had immensely increased the fire power of the single star ship trooper. So the structure in the Corps had been adjusted in favour of small units, called Squads. Those Squads consist of one Officer In Command (OIC), called Squad Leader, and roughly ten troopers. History shows, that one company, consisting of ten squads, specialized in their own field of expertise, is perfectly suited, to perform any requested task during a standard mission. So, most of the active cruiser battalions are reduced to their A-Company and are only reinforced, when circumstances demand more man- or firepower.

For example, the 1d Valkyrie Marine Battalion (KDF):
