To get the big picture, here are some statistics, published by the KDF High Command in the US.
In the annual fleet report You find data and numbers of the current units in the
Klingon Defence Force.
|
This represents roughly the number of members. It covers the regular units of Navy and Marine Corps
and the irregular units of local war lords and clan leaders as well. Recently there is a significant increase in the number of those House Forces. This might be connected to strong and charismatic clan leaders, like Lady Grilka
or Lord Martok, who appear more frequently at DS9. Officially those House Forces operates under Naval command, but they tend to look at themselves as some sort of freelancers or Merchant Navy, playing
the part of "Wild Cards".
A more detailed list of the single departments is planed for the next future.

In this sense the Headquarters at Kansas City and the Kar Regency of the Outer Marches at Blackpool are classified as Command Star- bases. Maintenance Docks are mostly vessels, which are temporarily not operational. This means, they currently face either termination or reorganization. The Outposts cover those units or passive members, who are recruiting, but still fail the Vessel requirements. Similar to the Listening Posts, who fail the Outpost requirements.

The recent all fleet reorganization leads to a significant reduction of permanently under- manned "Cruisers" in favour of the B'rel-Class Bird-Of-Preys. By now it represents the real vessels scale far better than before.
In the Central European Squadron, the IKC Valkyrie is classified as Vor'cha-Class and the IKMV QI'Staq as
Gunboat. You might note, that beside the development of modern classes like the Negh'var or Vor'cha, vessels of K'tInga and K'vort-Class are still ve
ry popular. A single specimen still remains the old fashioned B2-Class battle cruiser of Aj Ke'reth vestai Makura.
