Marine Landing Manoeuvre: Qatlh-Lima-One
by

Problem:
Lately one fact is often overlooked. Spaceworthy vessels are rare in
the known universe and therefore valuable. So it is highly recommended
to capture a vessel, rather to destroy it. The salvation itself might be
worth the effort. Not to speak of new technologies, which might be found
at, especially Starfleet, vessels. These technologies might enhance the
Empire's strength remarkably. In general the other crew will fight back
in order to prevent the datatransfer. So possible resistance has to be
crushed by boarding units. Another possible threat is the use of self-destruction
devices on the other vessel. Those devices has to be deactivated in order
of save investigation. This tasks are performed by the Marines. The described
boarding manoeuvre is to be used in space combat. It governs boarding a
vessel and boarding a station as well.

Solution:
One cruiser, containing the Marine detachment engages the vessel in
question. If the other vessel disobeyed the order to surrender, the cruiser
opens fire on her. The objective is to disable her engines, weapons and
shields. If the cruiser succeeds, the work is done. But if both vessel
are evenly matched in their equipment and their crew's skills, it is very
likely that neither of the vessels will gain a sufficient advantage over
the other. So a small advantage has to do it. The Marines has to board
the vessel at the first breach in her shields. One aboard, the Marines
have to deactivate her power support, causing a shipswide deactivation
of vital systems. Those breaches will be short during the battle, for the
enemy engineers will try to restore them, the instant they are down. So
You do not have much time. In order to react as quickly as possible, the
Recon Squad has boarded a ‘Iwta class Gunboat or shuttlecraft, prior to
the battle. This gunboat will remain unshielded at the battles outskirts.
It is ready to beam the Recon Squad directly into engineering, at the first
sight of a breaking shield. To accomplish this, the whole Squad is already
dematerialised and stored, fully equipped and ready for action, in the
transporter's pattern buffer. This procedure has been developed by the
famous science officer Forn ben Adar. The amount of energy to sustain this
state is vast, so it can only be applied to a small group of warriors.
When the shields break, Recon Squad is beamed directly from the pattern
buffer through the breach. Once aboard Recon Squad takes and holds engineering.
Then they start to deactivate the power generators. If possible they disengage
the warp core and the computer core as well. Needless to mention, the casualties
among Recon Squads are high. Many of them have died by malfunctioning pattern
buffers. Or their atoms were repelled by restored shield and scattered
in the cold space. Only the bravest warriors, like tai Khem'Ra, proud daughter
of the house of DarkH, serve in Recon. And they are highly honoured in
the Corps. When the shield are completely down, the next wave Marines are
beamed directly from the cruiser to the key positions of the vessel. Those
are the men and women of the Marine Infantry. They take and hold the key
positions, crushing every resistance they meet. Signal Squad and Tech Squad
will rematerialise in the third wave . They arrive at the bridge or ops,
and at the computer core as well. Signal will try to deactivate any set
self-destruction device by computer access. Simultaneously Tech will deactivate
the explosive devices themselves. Meanwhile the Supply Squad has arrived
to build up a line of supply. They treat the casualties and start to register
the salvage.
As soon as any possible threat has been removed, and the ship is completely secured,
it will finally be handed over to the Navy.
