AER: Good Day to Dine, May 28th, 2005
The Lone Star Warrior's Association had its Good Day to Dine on Saturday, May 28th of 2005. This one took place at Spagetti Warehouse in Mequite (TX). The Total head count was something on the order of 22 persons arriving for this event. Due to poor weather and driving conditions, we literally had a revolving door of participants arriving. Some, after eating, would leave as others arrived. Thus we occupied this table grouping for some 3 solid hours.
The food was very good. The service was excellent. Our server in particular (Sally) was very much a humorous person that accepted our finger food way of eating. When water was ordered, she did not bat an eye as it was used as a finger bowl instead of being consumed. Betty, the balloon girl made a few balloons to order for our table as she entertained the children. Plus Squeeze purchased an "Alien" balloon for Kbubbles and it led to lots of laughs.
Qlu showed off his new armor. This is a wonderful medieval armor based upon a lorica sclamata over mail complete with a back tail. The women folk had lots of fun shining his brass "nipples".
JudmoS, the creator of the DFW area Good Day to Dine, introduced a new concept. He brought in a made up game to challenge the Warriors present and backed it with a nice prize. Mrs. Gizmo ultimately won a nice figurine of a klingon Warrior with a disrupter.
As a special tribute, a space was left for our own Lord Kamin. His house banner was printed and placed as a placemat. A disrupter of his making and a Qutlutch sat to either side of his "banner". A ceremonial robe with the symbol of our Race was placed upon the chair. And a beer was purchased as a sacrifice to him and placed at his place setting.
After the GDtD was over, all of us participating signed the "placemat" for delivery to the Family of House Kamin.
Kamin was still with us that night. And always shall be.
We partied with him.
We partied for him.
The next Good Day to Dine will be at the "Starship Pegasus" in Italy, Texas.
Strength and Honor, Y'all
Salek
Ship's Brewer, IKV Melota
The latest GDtD was at the spaghetti warehouse in Mesquite.
Being my first, I wasn't really sure what to expect but am always
looking for an excuse to hang out with friends. I attended with
Salek and kin (hate driving by myself sometimes), and as we were the
advance scouts we quickly secured territory for the ship and the
Empire. The Gizmos brought some of Lord Kamins personal effects and
we placed them with reverence and respect in a special place at the
head of the table in his honor (THANKS for that btw Dr. and Mrs.
Gizmo).
The food was most excellent, and for K'bech's sake I will say
this: Eating with fingers is way too easy (So there). Our waitress
was most excellent, and most attentive to our needs. The life of the
party was...well...pretty much everyone (Although K'bubbles did have
her moments (crazy lady)). A most impressive and most joyfull time
was had by all. I wil NOT mention how I did in Judmos's little game,
but I say we have a really bad joke telling contest at the next one
(I will easily beat him at this I think): The entire ship could be
the judges.
Anyway, a most excellent time was had: I was later informed that
this was probably one of, if not the, most joyfull GDtD's had in a
LONG time (Mush playing, and some VERY good fellowship). And lest I
forget another imnportant person, Shelley and sister Debbie and
little...(Boy so I stink at names) arrived in the middle of it all to
a thunderous ovation/greeting (At least by Judmos (crazy man)). All
kidding aside though, Look out Starship pegasus: The IKV Melota is
seeking prey to capture for the glory of the empire.
