We served as Security for the CATS Creative Arts Theatre School Haunted House. Our primary mission was to entertain the guests waiting in line as well as to make sure that the guests were safe. With lots of children and cars running around the parking lot, there was a substantial risk of injury.
We had fun talking to the mundanes waiting in line for their turn in the haunted house. Now and then we had to move the line away from traffic lanes as the line itself became a living, moving thing. A couple of times we had to direct traffic in the parking lot to reduce the risk of damage or injury.
We found out a year later that that Hootie of Homies that got back into their car upon seeing Lord Krell and myself were gangbangers that had arrived to intercept some other gangbangers that were in the line. Krell and I at that time observed 5 adolescent males unass that did not look like they were present to enjoy the haunted house. They were slowly swaggering out of the car and frowning instead of joking like everybody else that drives up. One of them saw us and pointed us out to the other four. Apparently we had bigger knives than they did so they got back into the car and left. Our best guess based upon the information given and seen is that we forestalled a gang fight by our presence.
This proved to be a practical application of my Essay on Live Steel.
All in all, this was a ton of fun and we apparently did well enough that we were to return for 2003.
